Holidays without Pets!
Although we'd love to take our precious pooches with us whereever we go away, there are some holidays that simply aren't dog friendly!
While many hotels and resorts are becoming more accommodating to pets, there are some places that just aren't appropriate and if you're heading overseas, things become even more difficult.
Here are some tips for what you do with your dog when you go away.
Boarding kennels
Think of a boarding kennel a bit like a doggy resort, you drop your dog off, he has his own private room, plenty to eat, space to roam and lots of friends to play with. While some dogs do suffer some separation anxiety due to the new surroundings, most pooches settle in quite quickly. To stay at a kennel your dog must be fully vaccinated. Consider the following when choosing a kennel.
Don't take anything for granted and ask lots of questions.
Are toys and bedding welcome?
What will your pet be fed?
Where will your dog be sleeping?
How long much time is given to play and exercise each day?
How much personal time/affection is given to each dog?
Can friends visit your pet?
Who are the vets that service the kennel?
Pet minding servies
It's like a live-in baby-sitter for your pooch! There are a variety of services available and depending on the sort of arrangement you prefer, you can organise for someone to visit, walk and feed your pet each day or, you can drop them off at the sitter's house for a little holiday of their own!
